General Information

You are cordially invited to take part in the “12th International Conference on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (FLC-09)” to be held at Zaragoza (Spain), from August 31 to September 4 in 2009.

Since the first FLCC in Arcachon (France) in 1987, the meeting aims to provide good chances for personal contacts and scientific exchanges, and to stimulate useful interactions within researchers on various topics around chiral and polar phases. Thus the design and synthesis of new liquid crystalline materials, their structural characterization and evaluation of their physical properties, applications and new trends will be discussed in this forum. The event will provide a unique opportunity to contribute to discussions on the most recent developments, challenges and possibilities of this type of materials. Scientists who are interested in science and application of chirality, polarity and related topics are welcome to join the FLC-09 with the lemma “New Challenges in Chiral and Polar Systems”..

The presence of young participants will be welcomed and tutorial seminars are planned.

The official language of the symposium will be English.

In addition to scientific sessions, FLC-09 may provide you another enjoyable experience as to visit Spain, the Spanish Autonomous Community of Aragón and its capital, Zaragoza. If you have never visited us before, this is a good chance for you. If you did, you will have the opportunity to visit a "new city" because many changes took place on 2008 due to the international EXPO2008 celebration.

The FLC-09 is organized by the members of the Liquid Crystal and Polymer group from Zaragoza formed by researchers from the

University of Zaragoza http://www.unizar.es/, and
the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) http://www.csic.es.

All they develop their research at the
Institute of Material Science of Aragón (ICMA) http://www.unizar.es/icma/ and
the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragón (INA) http://www.unizar.es/ina/ina.htm.

We cordially invite you to participate in the FLC-09 in Zaragoza !
