COURSES
IN SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT THE
UNIVERSITY OF ZARAGOZA (SPAIN)
SUMMER
COURSES IN JACA
83nd EDITION
(JULY
AND AUGUST 2013)
Courses
in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Zaragoza
are run throughout the year in Zaragoza (the capital city
of Aragon) while in the summer they are transferred to the
tourist resort of Jaca (Huesca) in the Pyrenees, less than
two hours away.
The
University of Zaragoza has been a pioneer in teaching Spanish
to foreign students since 1927. It has agreements with a number
of public and private institutions around the world, working
directly with various official bodies to promote the Spanish
language (the Cervantes Institute, the Education Office of
a number of Spanish embassies, the Aragon Regional Government
and the Ministry of Education and Science) and it is the Official
Examination Centre for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign
Language (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera
- DELE) with exams in May and November.
The
University of Zaragoza is recognised worldwide, as is demonstrated
by the high number of foreign students attending the various
co-operation programmes in which it participates (Sócrates-Erasmus,
Tempus, ALPA, Asia-Link, Leonardo, etc).
SUMMER COURSES IN SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN
JACA (HUESCA)
83nd
EDITION
The
Summer Courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language run by the
University of Zaragoza in Jaca are the oldest in Spain, having
been founded in 1927. 2002 was the 75th anniversary of the
foundation of the courses and 2012 marks their 82nd session.
The
city of Jaca, some 850 metres above sea level, was the capital
of the old kingdom of Aragon and is today a leading tourist
resort in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, offering a
wide range of cultural events and services, including concerts,
flea markets, exhibitions, conferences and congresses.
Its
natural setting and facilities are ideal for many sports,
including parasailing, horse riding, ice skating, adventure
sports, rambling, etc.
The
city has always been, and still is today, a favoured way stage
for pilgrims on the Road to Santiago de Compostela and a focus
for exchange and understanding between cultures, standing
as a gateway to Europe just a few short kilometres from the
French border.
Together
with the Spanish Courses for Foreign Students, Spanish Teacher
Training Courses are also offered. Spanish-speaking students
participate in these courses allowing Spanish and Foreign
students the opportunity to spend time together and practise
their language skills.
