Una obra desconocida del taller de Gabriel Joly: las imágenes de los santos Cosme y Damián en la iglesia de San Pedro de Teruel

   Este artículo analiza las imágenes de San Cosme y San Damián de la iglesia de San Pedro de Teruel, obra del siglo XVI que, ignorada hasta el presente por los investigadores, viene a engrosar la nutrida y magn ífica nómina de escultura del quinientos con que cuenta dicha ciudad. Su ejecución, en vista de sus características formales, se relaciona con el taller de Gabriel Joly. Y, más concretamente, se atribuye al quehacer de uno de los má s estrechos colaboradores del maestro galo, Juan Pérez <>, sirviendo así al mejor conocimiento de la personalidad artística de este imaginero y, de paso, para avalar la posibilidad de que intervinier a en alguna otra de las piezas escultóricas conservadas en Teruel.

   The present article analyses the images of Saint Cosme and Saint Damian owned by Saint Peter s in Teruel. This work ignored so far by researchers increases the magnificent and abundant collection of 16th-century sculptures that the city enjoys. In the light of its formal features, its execution is related to the workshop of Gabriel Joly. More specifically, the piece is attributed to one of the Gallic master s closest assistants, Juan Pérez <> . This fact contributes to the better knowledge of the artistic personality of this maker of religious images, also supporting his possible participation in some of the other sculptures kept in Teruel.
