STUDENTS
WHO WISH TO STUDY COURSES SPECIFIC TO THE UNIVERSITY
OF ZARAGOZA
For those students who have a foreign
degree or higher education studies and wish to study
courses specific to the University of Zaragoza.
The University of Zaragoza may set
up and impart courses leading to the obtaining of non-official
Diplomas and Degrees, through its Departments, Institutions,
Faculties, Schools, etc. These non-official degrees
are issued by the Rector. The conditions of the introduction
and development of these specific degrees are set out
in the cited articles of the Statutes of the University
of Zaragoza.

1) Requirements
Those students who possess a foreign
higher education degree and wish to study courses in
Spain leading to a Degree, Diploma or Certificate specific
to each University may have access to them without needing
to validate the degree, prior authorization granted
by the corresponding university authority being sufficient.

2) Kinds
of Degrees
2.1. Specific Graduate Degrees:
Long-term studies, based on specific
curricula and with fixed denomination (See list in Point
11). The following groups can be distinguished:
a) First Cycle Degree: Specific first
cycle studies, with a minimum extension of 180 credits.
b) Second Cycle Degree: Specific
second cycle only studies, with a minimum extension
of 120 credits.
c) First and Second Cycle Degree:
Specific first and second cycle studies, with a minimum
extension of 240 credits.
To enrol in first cycle degrees or
first and second cycle degrees, the legal requirements
to study the corresponding official courses at the
University will be demanded.
To enrol in second cycle degrees,
the student must be in possession of a degree, diploma
or equivalent. The student may also enrol in these
degrees if they have passed the first cycle of a degree
or a degree belonging to the first cycle.
2.2. Specific Postgraduate Degrees:
Fixed denomination short or medium
term studies, not necessary maintained in time and aimed
at specific teaching of University Graduates.
The following groups can be distinguished:
a) Studies leading to a Master’s
Degree: Minimum extension of 50 credits. Its lecture
hours will not be less than an academic course. To
enrol in studies leading to a Master’s Degree
the student must be in possession of a degree or a
degree belonging to the second cycle. Likewise, depending
on the specificity of the corresponding studies, the
University may grant university graduates or first
cycle graduates of specific degrees access to these
studies.
b) Studies leading to a Postgraduate
Degree: Minimum extension of 20 credits. To enrol
in these studies, the student must be in possession
of an official university degree or a first cycle
degree or must have completed the first cycle of official
university studies.
c) According to Art. 16.1 of Royal
Decree 86/1987 (BOE of 23 January), those students
who have a foreign higher education degree may enrol
in studies leading to a Master’s Degree or a
Postgraduate without having to validate their degrees,
the authorization granted by the Rector being sufficient,
after having received a report from the University
Teaching Committee.
2.3. Specific Diplomas:
Specialization Diploma: Minimum duration
of 12 credits, preferably orientated towards professional
improvement and specialization. To obtain the Specialization
Diploma, the student needs to have an official university
or first cycle degree, or must have passed the first
cycle of a degree. When the contents of these studies
justifies it, admission may be granted to those candidates
who prove that they have sufficient professional qualifications
in material directly related to the contents of the
studies to be undergone, as long as they comply with
the legal requirements to study at the University as
set out in Art. 7.1 of Royal Decree 1496/1987 of 6 November.
